RPF Productions – Turning waste into clean energy

What is RPF?

Environmentally friendly” fuel RPF, standing for Refused Paper & Plastic Fuel, is a high-quality solid fuel that is recycled mainly from waste plastic and waste paper using Japanese technology. It has high processing and combustion efficiency and is used as an alternative to fossil fuels like coal, which is becoming increasingly scarce, and other burning materials like sawdust, rice husk, wood pellets,…

Important factors of production

In order to recycle and produce environmentally friendly RPF, the most important thing in this process is the classification of the input materials, which meet the following requirements:

  • Not containing hazardous ingredients.
  • Not containing PVC or other chlorine-based resins.
  • Plastics and input materials are capable of burning.

Calorific value: 6000 – 8000 kcal, Ash content ≤ 5%, Moisture: 10% – 20%.

Advantages of using RPF

Due to its high calorific value and stable composition, RPF is very suitable for burning in boilers.

  • RPF are used extensively in developed countries all across the world since they can produce an equal or even higher amount of heat than coal can. Because fossil fuels such as coal and coke are gradually depleting, RPF pellets will be an excellent replacement. This technology has been used for more than 30 years in Japan, but it is still in its early stages and is not widely known in Vietnam.
  • Economic: RPF has high calorific value but its cost is low and stable as compared with fossil fuels, which helps enterprises to optimize production costs.
  • Environment: Using RPF will bring a great advatage to the environment due to the reduction of CO2 emission (30-50% compared to coal burning), SO2 emissions (90-100% reduction compared to coal burning) and the amount of ash after burning.
  • Waste treatment: The practice of burying rubbish, as is done in Vietnam now, wastes space, consumes fuel, and pollutes the environment. Recycling plastic waste into RPF will be a solution to the above-mentioned problems.

Objects of use

Costumers using boilers (especially using Fluidized boiler) and other factories which are using coal, rice husks,…for burning in furnaces (e.g. Paper factory, Milk factory, Pharmaceutical factory, Feed factory, Textile factory, Cement plants,…)

Reviews from customers, mangers

  • Mr. Vu Dinh Thang, Sub-Department of Standards, Measurement, and Quality of Hung Yen Department of Science and Technology, stated: “Sources of raw materials such as waste plastic, pulp, and wood chips are frequently burned, causing waste and negatively impacting the environment. This technology utilizes that raw material to generate useful items.”
  • “Previously, we burned rice husks; now, we employ these two fuel sources in tandem.” RPF tablets burn fast and release heat, so we use them when we need heat or pressure to rise quickly. However, because the company’s boiler layout necessitates a delayed combustion process, we only combine 20% of the RPF pellets with rice husks,” said Mr. Do Kim Ngoc, Vice Director of CJ Bran Company Vina Agri.

  • Nowadays, environmental pollution in general and white pollution (pollution from plastic waste) in particular are one of the top concerns. Natural resouces are gradually depleted due to the increase of global population and the expansion of the economic activities. Environmental protection and pollution reduction are no longer the matters of one group of people, but the whole society, enterprises and all citizens need to join hands in order to solve these problems.
  • Furthermore, circular economy is becoming a highly-promoted trend in Vietnam. Many businesses now tend to research, produce and use recycled and alternative fuels.
  • Therefore, recycling waste (especially plastic waste) is the most effective solution to protect our living environment. We are proud of being the FIRST COMPANY to turn waste into energy by successfully producing and bringing RPF, an environmentally friendly recycled products to Vietnamese market. For us, WASTE IS A RESOURCE.
